This is very likely a graphics driver bug. The Android emulator had this same bug until 2 years ago. The fix: https://gist.github.com/CyanogenMod/android_frameworks_base/commit/3e5a5826c65044edc813bd6d3cff6a43db28d74e

Just updated my version to 6.3.8 and the bug is still present, no change in behavior and still 100% reproducible.
My phones correct version number is GT-S5830i. (this is the newer version of Samsung Galaxy Ace, with more powerful CPU and Android 2.3.6)
If you need any more info (or need me to test a change on my Erhard) feel free to contact me I will gladly help with anything (I'm a software tester anyway ;) )

could you attach your xcsoar-startup.log file to this ticket please?

Any current phone should not turn back and forth anymore since 6.3.8. If there is still a problem, it should always be upside down now, and never change. Please confirm this. And as Turbo said, attach xcsoar-startup.log, or better: attach a logcat.

Turbo:
- I uploaded the log file as requested.
Max:
- No, the map is not just upside down, it is flipping back and forth. (if there is any info box or buttons present, with map only the flipping stops)

Test Test
I got Error 111 when making the update for the bug ... I hope it's fine.

The log shows that your device lacks OpenGL frame buffer objects. Therefore, the workaround I wrote is not in effect. I guess that you have Android 2.2 with buggy graphics drivers, and my second guess is that an Android upgrade will fix the problem.

Today I got a device that could reproduce the problem a long time ago, but it no longer can. Therefore I assume it is fixed, but I don't know how. Please reopen this ticket if it still occurs with XCSoar 6.5.
