Description
Possibility to change the plane icon pointing our glider with HangGlider? or ParaGlider? icon.

Do you have a good idea how those HG/PG icons should look like? I'd be happy to implement them...

I'm against this proposal, and I was against the 'detailed aircraft symbol' too :) I understand that it's aesthetically pleasing to have a representation of the aircraft being flown (the 'ownship'), but there's a very good practical reason for having the ownship represented in this iconic style (the same as found on general aviation instruments eg HSIs); it is very distinct from the symbology used for other non-ownship aircraft on the map (FLARM traffic, etc) and the same graphic can be used in icons referring to the ownship (flight mode status icons, etc). It is also an excellent shape for accurately aligning against to heading / track lines.
At the end of the day we're designing a flight instrument where a LOT of information is presented to the pilot and has to be processed as quickly as possible, and if we can keep symbology as much as possible it will be to everyone's benefit in the long run.
