For (US) competition, the way it is set up now -- appended turns go in the task just prior to the finish -- is perfect. Please keep this as an option.

moving to 6.3. This is not something that is clearly improved by changing the functionality of the existing buttons. The current usability feedback is that this screen (dlgWaypointDetails > Append etc) is unclear in its function and I don't think changing one of the buttons or adding a new function will solve the underlying confusion about this screen.
My current plan for this screen includes displaying the Task Manager screen immediately after any dlgWaypointDetails task alteration is performed, allowing the pilot to review the task alteration. This way, we can make this screen more clear in its function.

Also, Turbo, can you explain what exactly you are doing, and why you would want Append to create a new finish point.

I've tried building a task with this feature and it is almost impossible to use. It appends the last turnpoint before the finish. Agree that it should append a new finish point.

However, if you are flying a task, and want to "add an extra turnpoint" but still finish at the same place it works perfectly. I guess we need to decide what it is we're trying to accomplish with the button.

RobD1: I agree that building a complete task with this buttons is cumbersome. However I use the "Insert/Append?" buttons in-flight, e.g. to extend my planned task if weather is better than expected, and for this use case they work exactly like needed.
