Ticket #1023 (closed defect: wontfix)
internal GPS is not activated on startup

Description
Today I tested version 6.0.8. After updating and starting XCSoar I received a airspace warning, (because I am close to the Maastricht CTR). Pressing "close" crashed my phone: black screen, not responsive, had to reset. That happened with the previous update as well, but after that crash, that never happened again. Today neither.
Connecting to the internal GPS is a problem from version 6.0.8. First attempt I had to wait for minutes, after which the "GPS not connected" persisted (it didn't detect the internal GPS). I closed XCSoar, started Navigon. After a 3D fix, I closed Navigon, restarted XCSoar and now everything was fine. I attached the log file, with 2 bold parts of text: the first highlights the first startup, but doesn't tell anything about an attempt to connect to the GPS. The second highlight does show it connects to the internal GPS.

As a temporary workaround, consider adding a GPS toggle widget to your Android homescreen (There may be one included with your device, otherwise search for 'GPS Toggle Widget' on the Android market)

When your phone crashes (i.e. the "Home" button doesn't work), that must be an Android bug, and there is nothing we can do, sorry.
You must start XCSoar with your internal GPS enabled in the Android settings. XCSoar does not have the permissions to do that for you.
